2009 Illinois National Wild Turkey Federation State Convention
The State Convention will be held January 10, 2009 at The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield, Illinois. Call our Chapter President Slim Boente for tickets to attend at (618) 781-2832.

2009 IDNR Hunter Safety Class
The Shiloh Spurs IDNR hunter safety class is planned for Wednesday e vening March 4th and all day Saturday March 7, 2009. Check back in Mid January to register and for additional information. You must attend both classes to receive your Hunter Safety Card.

Jacob was a student in the hunters safety course held by the Shiloh Spurs in March 2008. The turkey was taken the first day of youth season at 8 a.m. After watching around 50 turkeys all morning, this was 1 of 4 Toms that came in after calling. The excitement was unreal. Anyway, I just wanted to share the hunt with the Shiloh Spurs because he really enjoyed your hunters safety course.

Shiloh Spurs Chapter Meetings
Meetings are held weekly beginning
the first Thursday of January and every Thursday night thereafter
until the Shiloh Spurs banquet is held in February. The meetings
start at 7:00 pm and are held at The Shiloh Eagles every week
except the second to last Thursday before the banquet. The
second to last Thursday-night meeting before the banquet will
be held at Wilke Window & Door ( 3500
Lebanon Avenue, Shiloh, Illinois) and all banquet auction
items are assembled by NWTF volunteers. All members and perspective
members are encouraged to attend.

Hunter's
for Hunger
Each year the Shiloh Spurs donates 50 turkeys to needy families
in Southern Illinois. Thank you to Hart's and Dierbergs Grocery
Stores for their support of this community service.
Adopt a Highway
The Shiloh Spurs have adopted a large section of Lebanon Avenue
leading into Shiloh Illinois and will regularly pick up litter
along the roadway. Contact Wade Zimmerman at 618-781-3336
to volunteer for this community service.
